Hey, friends! Sorry I have sucked at updating this recently. To be honest not a whole lot exciting has gone on outside of work. Last week we had the summer solstice. We went out to the end of Douglas Island to celebrate. A bunch of people showed up, and it was a good time.

We had about a mile hike out once we got there.

This was around 11pm. Still light outside.

Jake, Krista, and myself on solstice night.

Last night was the Only Fools Run at Midnight race. Lynn, Erik, Monica, and I dressed up as cowboys and ran/walked the mile. It was hilarious. Hundreds of locals came out at midnight to run the race all dressed in crazy costumes. It was awesome.

We ran into Abraham Lincoln!

Bahahaha. Erik and Lynn. Being classy.

We ran into Jackie along the way. She works for our company as a dock rep.

As you can see we weren't too concerned about our time because we took time to pose at the bus stop for a photo.

Everyone after the race.

I'm really excited because Erin Hurd is coming to visit me this week. Hopefully I'll have more to post next week. I did, however, take some footage the past few days at work and such and put together a short video, so you guys can get a better feel of what I experience every day here. Enjoy!

I'm loving the long days of sunshine here. You're really able to make the most of your days when the sun rises at 3am and sets at 11pm. The summer solstice is coming up on the 21st. There are 18 hours and 18 minutes of daylight, but the sun never completely sets. There's a race at the end of the month called Only Fools Run at Midnight that I'm excited about. It's only a 5K, but it sounds fun. I've been trying to be consistent with running. There's a half-marathon on the first of August that I would love to do. We will see.

On my day off I took the opportunity to hike Mt. Roberts. I wish I would have hiked further up, but we got to the tram and took that down, which was fun. It was a gorgeous day. We ate downtown after, then went to the rock gym.

Taking the tram down from Mt. Roberts.

Awesome view from the top.

Myself, Sam, Maddy, and Jeff.

The cruise ships look so small from the top.

Last week after work we had "guide olympics" consisting of various challenges on and off the course. There were three teams; team hot karls, the ninjas, and ours....team beer and gear. Needless to say, we failed on many levels. I suppose you can't hold too high of expections with a team name like that. However, it was still a good time.

Bringing it in after the olympics.

Awesome sunset that night at the site.

Waiting at the dock for the boat to take me back to work.

I can't get enough of these mountains.

Riding the boat into town. Hence the crazy windblown hair.

Me. Hard at work. Ha.

This is at ground school on our first zipline where we teach our clients how to zip properly.

I love Alaska.
The end. <3

The sunshine has come back this week. Today it got up to almost 80 degrees. I'm loving it. We will see how long it lasts. Work is going really well. You would think by now it would get old doing the same course 3 times a day, but all the groups coming through are always different. Also, all the guides here have various personalities, it keeps it interesting guiding with new people each day. We really do have an awesome staff here.

Last week, my housemates and I came home from eating dinner at the pub to find everything in our home flipped upside down. We know the boys down in the 417 house were the culprits. Lets just say...retaliation is near.

This is one of my groups from last week. After we get them geared up, we take them up to the course on a world war II mercedes benz unimog.

Saturday night we had a company dinner at Erica's (our logistics manager) house. We had an awesome king salmon feast and got to hear more about the Treadwell Mine of which our course is built over.

roomies of 1410.

erica found some crazy hats in her house.

enjoying the awesome salmon dinner.

beautiful sunset that night.

I had the day off on Sunday. A bunch of us were going to try to take one of the helicopter tours, but everyone else got called into work, so Courtney and I went on a hike.

That night was Daniel's birthday as well. Krista cooked an awesome Jambalaya dinner for us all. We had seafood 3 nights in a row, which was amazing considering it was the first fish I have had since I have been up here. Friday night Krista cooked crab legs which were delish. (=

Krista and I took the bus to the store. Coming home we were waiting at the bus stop holding toilet paper and a birthday balloon. What can I say...we are classy.

After it stopped raining yesterday I saw two incredible rainbows. The one I saw out at the site was so vibrant, I was so mad I didn't have my camera on me. Then I got home, and saw another one outside my house.

i loveeee rainbows.

That's all. Peace and <3.
