Where have the days gone?! Honestly, I don't keep track here. Occasionally I will take note of it on my computer or a piece of paper and have to ask myself what I have done in the last week or month.
July has been busy and there is more to look forward to over the next coming weeks. The past few weeks have been eventful consisting of long work days in the pouring rain, 3rd/4th of July weekend festivities, fireworks, climbing at the sea cliffs, celebrating summer solstice, kayaking, repelling into the 180ft open pit mine at work, running (getting ready for the Klondike Relay in September. A race from Skagway to Whitehorse, BC consisting of 12 legs), BUNCO night, and much more I just can't think of at the moment. Lots of birthdays this month including my own. When I get back from Jamaica in August half of my roomies will be leaving shortly after to go back to school so we are trying to plan a epic backpacking trip in the near future.
This season is more like a typical summer in Southeast Alaska meaning a lot more rain. Last year was just ridiculous how much sunshine we had. We have seen little sun in the last 6/7 weeks. I wasn't sure how I would take it, but I actually don't mind it. I enjoy the cooler 50/60 degree weather and I love running in the misty rain. Sometimes it's hard to work in for 10+ hours and coming home with not a dry patch on you, but it's also refreshing if you just sort of give into it. The only thing is that I don't care to hike/camp in the rain. Not doing as much of that as I would like to.
Overall, it's been a phenomenal summer. I have nothing to complain about. The more I'm in Juneau, the more I don't think I will ever be able to permanently leave this place. It's got all I could ever ask for in a home, and it really has come to feel like home. I don't know if any of you have watched this little video I threw together a couple weeks ago of my roommates and I around Juneau. Go to my youtube site. http://www.youtube.com/user/alexmichelevideos. I will never be able to explain why I love this place fully, but this provides you just a small taste of what I experience on a daily basis here. I love you and miss you all.
<3 Alex.
