oh, happy day.

We are quickly getting back into the swing of things here at ACA. Nick and I gave the first tour of the season yesterday. It was an easy two tour day. It felt good to be giving tours again. Not to mention it was the most beautiful day in Juneau thus far. I was glad to see some sunshine for the first tour day. The previous days of refresher training was cold and rainy. It even hailed at one point while we were up on the course. My hands were numb and I've just been waiting for my fingers to callus over from working the carabiners. It has been 7 months since I had worked with any of the equipment or done any rescue training, so I was slightly worried I had forgotten everything, but it all immediately came back to me. Just needed a bit of refreshing on a few things.

Even though cruise ships are starting to come through, it's still going to be a couple weeks before the season really picks up. There was only one tour today, so I had the day off which I used most of that time to catch up on sleep and wait for the cable guy to show up. The first group of trainees are almost finished with their training, so we will have more guides soon. The next bunch of guides won't be here for another couple weeks, including my roommates. I'm ready for them to get here and have a full staff. In the mean time I just want to enjoy Juneau before the tourists consume my life. I've been exploring new trails to run since I'm living downtown instead of over on Douglas this year. I hiked Mt. Roberts last week. We did run into snow near the top, but it won't be long before all that is melted. It's been in the low 50's most days here. I love the snow capped mountains, but I'm ready for some Spring. It looks like we have more good weather heading our direction. I'm crossing my fingers for just half as beautiful of a season as last year. Rain or shine...it's going to be a phenomenal summer in Juneau.
